Barbara Weber, MD, Founder and Executive Chair, Tango Therapeutics
Barbara Weber is the Executive Chair of Tango Therapeutics. She is the former President and founding Chief Executive Officer of Tango Therapeutics, which she began building shortly after joining Third Rock Ventures as a venture partner in March 2015. Barbara led Tango from its inception in 2017 until her retirement in 2026.
Prior to joining Third Rock Ventures, Barbara was Senior Vice President and Global Head, Oncology Translational Medicine at Novartis Oncology from 2009 to 2015 and Vice President, Oncology Discovery and Translational Medicine at GlaxoSmithKline from 2005 to 2009. Prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry, Barbara was Professor of Medicine and Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania, leading an internationally recognized clinical and translational research program in breast cancer genetics.
Barbara has served on the board of directors of both ASCO and AACR and is an elected member of the American Association of Physicians and the American Society for Clinical Investigation, of which she served as President in 2005. Barbara currently serves on the board of directors of ITM Radiopharma, Parabilis Medicines and Sesame Therapeutics.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Washington, Barbara graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Yale University and a fellowship in medical oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
