In 2012, the Aspen Cancer Conference initiated a collaboration with the Aspen High School to annually bring world-class scientists as well as young investigators to meet with Aspen High School science students and faculty to discuss advances in science, career choices in science and medicine, and provide advice on ongoing science projects here at AHS. Past speakers included Dr. J. Michael Bishop, Chancellor Emeritus, University of California, San Francisco, an immunologist and microbiologist who shared the 1989 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Harold E. Varmus, and Dr. Raymond N. Dubois, Executive Director of the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University and an internationally renowned expert in the molecular and genetic basis for colorectal cancer. In 2014, the Aspen Cancer Conference began an annual scholarship program with the Aspen High School. The Aspen Cancer Conference awards two $1000 scholarships, one to a male and one to a female AHS graduating senior who plans to pursue a path in science and/or medicine.
